Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
A violent confrontation over a land dispute in Parghari village, Sabaur police station area, resulted in one death and six injuries on Monday morning. The incident occurred when Badrinath Mandal and his family members arrived at Maheshpur Bahiar to irrigate their field. As they reached the location, they were ambushed by Sikandar Mandal and his three sons, who attacked them with sharp weapons. The altercation quickly escalated, leaving several people severely injured.
Among the injured were Buddhinar Mandal (51), his son Shravankumar (19), Sachin Kumar (22), and Sandeep Kumar (19). Anuruddh Mandal (51), another member of the family, succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Mayaganj Hospital. The attack is believed to have stemmed from a long-standing land dispute, with Sikandar Mandal reportedly attempting to illegally occupy the land, a source of conflict between the two parties for some time.
Witnesses at the scene saw villagers attempting to intervene and stop the violence, but they were also reportedly beaten by the attackers. The injured were rushed to Mayaganj Hospital, where they received medical treatment. The police were alerted, and a team was dispatched to investigate the incident.
